LA County to Begin Door-to-Door Pet License Checks Nov. 12 in Rowland Heights, Walnut, West Covina

Friday, November 6, 2026 · California · GSM News

Los Angeles County pet owners should take note: the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) in California announced that its officers will begin field animal licensing efforts on Thursday, Nov. 12, in several unincorporated communities, including Acton, Agua Dulce, Rowland Heights, Walnut, and West Covina, covering ZIP codes 93510, 91390, 91748, 91789, 91791, and 91792.

The department says the door-to-door efforts are designed to ensure residents' dogs and cats are in compliance with mandatory animal licensing, spay/neuter, and microchipping requirements. County law requires dogs to be licensed and kept current, and a license is also a key way for a lost pet to be returned home.

Residents who are not yet licensed do not need to wait for an officer's visit: new licenses and renewals are available online through the department's website, by mailing a printed application, or in person at any county animal care center. DACC also offers low-cost vaccination and microchip clinics, with microchip implantation priced at $7.50, and low-cost spay/neuter assistance for qualifying residents.

DACC is one of the largest animal care and control agencies in the nation, operating seven animal care centers and serving more than three million residents and their pets. The department advises residents to ask officers for identification during the checks and to verify any questions through its website or a local care center.
