Georgia Governor-Elect Bottoms Unveils Transition Team: Tyler Perry and Arthur Blank Among Co-Chairs of 'Georgia's Promise'
Georgia Governor-elect Keisha Lance Bottoms unveiled her transition team on November 6 at the State Capitol in Atlanta, naming the effort "Georgia's Promise" as she prepares to build a new administration ahead of her January 2027 inauguration.
The transition co-chairs include filmmaker Tyler Perry; Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United; business executive Richard Cox; Jason Carter, grandson of former President Jimmy Carter; and Jane Kidd. John King will serve as transition operations director, running day-to-day preparations and personnel processes.
Bottoms is Georgia's first Black governor and first woman governor, and her victory ended 24 years of Republican control of the governorship. Announcing the team, she said the new administration will focus on the cost of living and economic development, and emphasized that the transition leadership spans business, entertainment and public service.
She said she has spoken with outgoing Governor Brian Kemp, who pledged his support for an orderly handover. Georgia's new governor takes the oath of office in January 2027; the transition team is expected to roll out cabinet nominations and policy preparations in the coming weeks.
