The City of Riverside, in Riverside County, California, is inviting residents to apply to serve on its boards and commissions, with applications for the current vacancies accepted through November 13. "Our Boards and Commissions give residents a meaningful opportunity to have a voice in their local government," City Clerk Donesia Gause said, calling the volunteers an important connection between residents and City Hall.

Sixteen bodies have vacancies in this round: the Charter Review Committee, Commission on Aging, Airport Commission, Budget Engagement Commission, Community Police Review Commission, Cultural Heritage Board, Deaf Commission, Commission on Disabilities, Board of Ethics, Human Relations Commission, Human Resources Board, Board of Library Trustees, Museum of Riverside Board, Park and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission and Transportation Board. Their work touches planning and development, parks and recreation, public utilities, ethics, cultural heritage, public safety, accessibility and the City budget.

The positions are voluntary. Applicants must live in Riverside and be registered voters; terms are four years, with a maximum of two consecutive terms. Applications for all boards and commissions are also accepted year-round. Information is available from the City Clerk's Office at (951) 826-5557.
