Trump Offers Dana White the White House Press Secretary Job and Asks Him to Bring Fighters as Assistants

Saturday, November 7, 2026 · White House · GSM News

President Donald Trump, in Washington on Saturday, November 7, said in a Truth Social post that he has offered the job of White House press secretary to Dana White, the chief executive of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and publicly urged him to accept. Trump said he had asked White to bring several mixed martial arts fighters with him as assistants. White has not publicly accepted the offer, and the White House has not issued a formal appointment announcement. The story is still developing.

Calling White "a violent Fighter and Warrior," Trump wrote: "I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States. I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris." The name "Kayla Harris" is spelled as in the president's post. The post carried a collage image showing White in a suit seated behind a podium bearing the presidential seal, above images of several fighters. It concluded: "We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!" The post was published at 1:40 p.m. Eastern Time on November 7.

Reuters reported the post the same day, saying Trump had asked White to serve as White House press secretary. The New York Post and other outlets noted that White has not accepted the offer. Several outlets also noted that it remains unclear whether the statement was made in jest, pointing to the collage of growling fighters as a possible sign that it was tongue-in-cheek. Neither White nor the White House immediately responded to requests for comment, and Scripps News said it had reached out to the White House for more details on the legitimacy of the statement. The post, on its own, supports only the fact that the president publicly made the offer: whether White accepts, and whether a formal appointment follows, remains to be confirmed.

The press secretary post has been vacant since October 16, when Katie Zacharia left the job after just five days; Trump has since said he was in no hurry to fill the vacancy. White, who has run the UFC for many years, is a longtime Trump ally; on June 14 this year, Trump hosted a UFC event at the White House marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The offer came a day after Trump announced that Stephen Miller would replace Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff, effective November 9, as the post-midterm personnel shake-up at the White House continues. (Source: Donald Trump)
