27th San Diego Asian Film Festival Opens With 190-Plus Films and 32 Feature Premieres

The 27th San Diego Asian Film Festival opened on Nov. 5 in San Diego, California, and runs through Nov. 14. This year's festival screens more than 190 films from around the world at venues across the city, including 32 feature premieres, showcasing work by Asian and Asian-American filmmakers. Opening night on Nov. 5 featured 'In Waves,' launching the ten-day event. A headline act of San Diego's cultural week, the festival was listed among local weekend recommendations alongside the first Kumeyaay Nation Day celebration and a hip-hop musical. Founded in 2000, the San Diego Asian Film Festival is among North America's longest-running Asian film festivals, drawing large numbers of film fans and filmmakers each year; Chinese-language and Chinese-American titles are among this year's offerings for Chinese audiences.
