Lan Su Chinese Garden's Chrysanthemum Festival 'Golden Nights' Continues With 18 Floral Artists

The Chrysanthemum Festival at Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland's Old Town Chinatown, Oregon, is under way, and its nighttime light show, 'Nights of the Golden Flower,' continues tonight, Nov. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. The festival runs Nov. 5-22, open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is among Lan Su's most anticipated annual celebrations, centered on the chrysanthemum, a traditional Chinese flower symbolizing longevity and autumn. This year's theme is 'Golden Blooms Upon Autumn Waters'; works by 18 local floral artists, including invited designer Toni Tibbits, are displayed under garden lighting, with guzheng music from the Lulu Guzheng Studio, dance performances by the YZ Dance Academy, flower-jewelry making and activities for all ages, and visitors can vote for their favorite design. A sensory-friendly night is set for Nov. 14. Lan Su Garden, at 239 NW Everett Street, is Oregon's only authentic Chinese garden.
