Shanghai Jiao Tong University Seattle Alumni Association Elects New Board; First North American Alumni Center Opens

The Shanghai Jiao Tong University Seattle Alumni Association held its second board transition meeting in Seattle on Nov. 6, with Tang Chaohui taking over as president and Li Taoran as secretary-general. Hu Weiwei, deputy Party secretary and vice president of the university, offered congratulations by video. Before the meeting, a university delegation visited Wyze, the company founded by alumnus Zhang Yun — a 1999 undergraduate and 2002 master's graduate — who now serves as the association's vice president. That day, the SJTU Seattle Alumni Center was formally unveiled, the university's first alumni center in North America. Incoming president Tang thanked the university and alumni for their trust and said the new board will build a stronger support network for alumni in Seattle. Founded in July 2017, the association has connected more than 1,000 alumni across the greater Seattle area, is formally registered locally, and regularly hosts alumni forums on career development and innovation.
