The Vermont State Police said in a crash release on November 7 that at about noon that day, a Kia Telluride struck a deer on Interstate 89 southbound near mile marker 48.4 in the town of Berlin. The SUV sustained major front-end damage, and neither person in the vehicle was injured.

Trooper Kevin Charney of the Berlin Barracks responded. Troopers determined that a deer entered the roadway and collided with the Kia Telluride driven by Rene Nolan, 60, of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Nolan and his passenger were not injured and were both wearing seat belts. The deer was located and had died. Action Towing removed the damaged vehicle from the roadway.

Weather at the time was cloudy and road conditions were dry. The case number is 26A3009285.

It was the second deer collision of the day on the same stretch of I-89 in Berlin: at 10:49 a.m., a pickup truck also struck a deer at mile marker 49.2 northbound, sustaining major front-end damage, also with no injuries.
