145 California State Parks Offer Free Admission to Veterans and Service Members on Veterans Day

California State Parks will offer free admission to 145 state parks on Veterans Day, November 11, for U.S. military veterans, including active duty and reserve military personnel, the department announced.
Visitors must show a valid military ID, or proof of discharge other than dishonorable or bad conduct, to receive free admission. Participating parks include Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the California State Railroad Museum, Mount Tamalpais State Park, McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park and Pismo State Beach. At Angel Island State Park, free entrance covers the service member and up to three additional people. The full list of participating units is posted at parks.ca.gov/VeteransDay2026. The waiver covers day use; camping and other fees still apply.
"Veterans Day is an opportunity for us to honor the courage, commitment and sacrifices of the men and women who serve to protect our nation," said California State Parks Director Armando Quintero. "With our endless gratitude, we invite veterans, service members and their families to enjoy the beauty and peace their state parks have to offer. Truly, a wonderful way to honor our nation's veterans."
The program is authorized by Assembly Bill 150 (Olsen), signed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in 2013, which allows State Parks to offer reduced or free day use at participating parks to veterans, active duty and reserve personnel of the U.S. Armed Forces and the National Guard of any state.
The department advises visitors to check the website or social media pages of their destination before leaving home to confirm hours of operation, local conditions and guidelines, and to review its safety tips for a responsible visit. (Source: California State Parks)
