High Wind Watch for the Washington Coast: Gusts May Top 58 mph Saturday Night, Surf to 28 Feet Sunday

Saturday, November 7, 2026 · U.S. States · GSM News

In its Friday evening forecast discussion, the National Weather Service office in Seattle said a High Wind Watch remains in place for the Grays Harbor County Coast and the Northern Washington Coast from Saturday afternoon through late Saturday night, as a potent cold front moves east across western Washington Saturday night, bringing steadier rainfall and strong southerly winds.

Latest guidance suggests a 50 to 75 percent chance of gusts exceeding 58 mph, the High Wind Warning threshold, later Saturday along the coast, with gusts of 30 to 45 mph possible for most other areas Saturday afternoon into early Sunday and rain rates briefly reaching 0.15 to 0.25 inches per hour along the front. With many trees still in full foliage, localized power outages are possible, clogged storm drains may occur as gusty winds overlap the rain Saturday evening, and travelers should allow extra time. A Storm Warning is in effect for the coastal waters from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.

Steadier rain transitions to showers on Sunday as seas build to 20 to 28 feet; a High Surf Advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, and people in or near the water should use caution. Snow levels fall from around 7,500 feet Saturday night to near 4,500 feet on Sunday. River flooding is not expected over the next seven days. (Source: National Weather Service)
