Saturday, November 7, 2026 · Events · GSM News

The 31st Texas Book Festival runs November 14-15, 2026, in Austin, Travis County, Texas, centered on the Texas State Capitol and festival tents along 11th Street and Congress Avenue, with additional venues including First Baptist Church of Austin, Central Presbyterian Church, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and The Contemporary Austin - Jones Center. The festival has announced 285 authors this year, and the festival is free and open to the public.

The lineup includes multiple Pulitzer Prize winners. Publishers Weekly reports that ten Pulitzer winners are among this year's featured authors, including Colson Whitehead and Hernan Diaz, alongside National Book Award winners Elizabeth Acevedo and Patricia Smith and writers Patrick Radden Keefe and Mychal Threets. The two days feature author panels, readings, book signings, cooking demonstrations and food trucks.

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission, an official community partner, hosts author panels at the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, and 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, with behind-the-scenes State Archives tours on Saturday at noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m. on a first-come basis.

Programming for children and young readers runs through the weekend, and Lit Crawl Austin takes over East Austin on Saturday night with storytelling, spoken-word performances and literary games. Founded in 1995 by Laura W. Bush and others, with its first festival held in November 1996, the Texas Book Festival has grown into one of the nation's premier literary events.
