Houthi Health Ministry Says Airstrikes Near Sanaa Kill 22 and Wound 30, Blames Saudi Arabia; Riyadh Has Not Commented

A spokesman for Yemen's Houthi-run Health Ministry, Anees Alasbahi, told The Associated Press on November 7 that airstrikes on a village near the capital, Sanaa, killed at least 22 people and wounded 30 others that day, most of them women and children. He accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out the strikes; Saudi Arabia offered no immediate comment.
According to Houthi accounts, the strikes hit several homes in the village of al-Shariya in the Bani Hushaysh district of Sanaa province. The Houthi-run Saba news agency said rescuers were still working to pull victims from the rubble and alleged that aircraft also targeted paramedics. The Associated Press said it could not independently verify the claims.
It was the second consecutive day of reported heavy airstrike casualties in Yemen. A day earlier, on November 6, an attack on the al-Hadara market in the al-Waziyah district of Taiz province killed at least 30 people and wounded eight, according to Houthi officials; the Houthis and Yemen's Saudi-backed government forces blamed each other, and the AP said neither side's claims had been independently verified.
Yemen's years-long truce fell apart over the summer and the war reignited: in September the Houthis made a rapid advance, capturing much of the Red Sea coast and strategic islands near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The Houthis have also recently demanded $51 billion and formal recognition as Yemen's rulers as their price for ending attacks on Saudi Arabia.
