Washington State Lands Are Pass-Free on Veterans Day, November 11, for the Discover Pass Free Day

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources reminds residents that Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, is one of the 12 Discover Pass free days in 2026, when no Discover Pass is required to park on lands managed by the Department of Natural Resources, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, or the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The Discover Pass is the vehicle pass for state recreation lands, costing $45 annually or $10 for a one-day visit, depending on the point of purchase, with fees possibly applying. The free days align with the 2011 legislation that created the pass, which directed State Parks to designate up to 12 free days a year. The free days do not apply to Sno-Parks.
November 11 is also a National Park Service fee-free day, when entrance fees are waived for U.S. citizens and residents at every park that charges one, regardless of military status. (Source: Washington State Department of Natural Resources)
