Hong Kong's Foreign Currency Reserves Rise to US$440.5 Billion at End-October, HKMA Announces

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced on November 6 that Hong Kong's official foreign currency reserve assets stood at US$440.5 billion at the end of October 2026, up from US$432.9 billion at the end of September. There were no unsettled foreign exchange contracts at either date.
The authority said the US$440.5 billion total represents over five times the currency in circulation, or about 36 percent of Hong Kong dollar M3. The reserves are a key support figure for Hong Kong's linked exchange rate system, and the HKMA publishes them monthly under the IMF's Special Data Dissemination Standard.
The release is a routine monthly publication and involves no new policy. Month-to-month movements mainly reflect investment returns, valuation changes and fund flows.
