Nottingham Forest Beat Manchester City 3-1 as Delap Double Hands City a Third Straight League Defeat

NOTTINGHAM, England — Nottingham Forest beat Manchester City 3-1 at the City Ground on Saturday in the Premier League's 10th round, scoring twice in the first half to hand City a third straight league defeat and leave them six points behind leaders Arsenal.
Liam Delap was the match-winner. The striker, who had scored only once in eight league games this season, netted two sensational strikes to carry Forest to their first home win of the season. Forest also scored their first home goals of the campaign, moving up to 16th place on nine points and out of the relegation zone.
City had reeled off seven straight wins to start the campaign, but have now lost three in a row: 2-1 away to Aston Villa, 1-0 at home to Brighton & Hove Albion, and now 3-1 at the City Ground. Arsenal top the standings on 27 points after 10 games.
City coach Enzo Maresca told Sky Sports that in the first half his side did not match Forest's intensity and lost all the duels, and that by the time they tried to react at 2-0 down, it was too late.
Forest coach Oliver Glasner sprinted down the touchline to celebrate Delap's second goal. He said the energy in the team and at the City Ground was so incredible that it would have been tough for any team in the world, and credited the players and fans. Delap said the performances had been coming every week without the finishes, and that the team could now go into the international break happy.
