Lions Beat Dolphins 19-9 for Fourth Straight Win, Holding Miami Without a Touchdown

Sunday, November 8, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

The Detroit Lions beat the Miami Dolphins 19-9 on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, for their fourth straight win, improving to 6-2 while holding Miami without a touchdown all afternoon. The Dolphins fell to 1-7 in the Week 9 game.

The Lions led 6-3 at halftime in a field-goal game, 3-3 after the first quarter and 6-3 at the break. The game's only touchdown came with 1:20 left in the third quarter, when running back Jahmyr Gibbs scored on an 8-yard run to make it 16-6.

Miami briefly threatened in the fourth quarter: punter Bradley Pinion threw a 46-yard pass to running back Kaytron Allen on a fake punt, and the Dolphins kicked a field goal to close within 16-9. But Jake Bates answered with a field goal for Detroit to restore a two-score lead at 19-9, and Miami never reached the end zone.

Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis finished 13-for-25 for 128 yards with no touchdown passes and one interception, adding just seven rushing yards. Detroit's defense did it short-handed: linebacker Jack Campbell, hurt and hospitalized during last week's game against the Minnesota Vikings, was out, yet the unit still held Miami to nine points and no touchdowns.

Detroit stays near the top of the NFC North at 6-2, while Miami remains at the bottom at 1-7. Both teams play again on November 15.
