Two Suspects Arrested in Pattaya Over Theft of a Chinese Tourist's Patek Philippe Watch Worth About 20 Million Baht; Police Recover the Watch

PATTAYA — Thai police confirmed that at about 12:30 a.m. on November 8, investigators from Pattaya City Police Station arrested two suspects accused of stealing a Chinese tourist's Patek Philippe watch worth about 20 million baht. Police recovered the watch and returned it to the tourist.
According to the Pattaya City police, the tourist, a Chinese national recorded in the police report as Wu Yizeng, filed a complaint on November 7 saying that two transgender women he had met took his passport and a silver, diamond-set Patek Philippe PP5719G watch from his room, Room 309 at the Z8 Hotel in Jomtien Soi 6. The watch is valued at about 4 million yuan, roughly 20 million baht.
An investigation team led by Pattaya City police chief Colonel Anek Srathongyu traced the first suspect, aged 30, near Beach Road Soi 13/3; confronted with CCTV evidence, the suspect identified an accomplice, and police then arrested the second suspect, aged 24, at an apartment on Pattaya Second Road Soi 9. Both were charged with nighttime theft and receiving stolen property and were handed to Pattaya City investigators for legal proceedings.
