Brim-Edwards Concedes; Shannon Singleton Wins Multnomah County Chair Race

PORTLAND, Oregon — Multnomah County Commissioner Julia Brim-Edwards conceded the county chair race on the night of November 5, with progressive candidate Shannon Singleton victorious. As the latest counts arrived, Singleton's lead had grown beyond 35,000 votes. Turnout in Multnomah County reached 64%, with 51,424 ballots still uncounted. Singleton celebrated in northeast Portland alongside Bree Williams, who won the District 2 commission seat. Meanwhile, all six Portland city council incumbents won re-election, including three democratic socialists, despite heavy business-group spending aimed at reshaping City Hall. Governor Tina Kotek also declared victory, defeating Republican Christine Drazan 53% to 44%, and U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley won re-election with 57%. Portland voters also rejected Ballot Measure 26-267, the participatory budgeting measure. Democrats further expanded their majorities in both chambers of the state legislature.
