Dropbox and Front Cut 110 Jobs in San Francisco as Bay Area Tech Layoffs Mount

Friday, October 30, 2026 · States · GSM News

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — San Francisco's tech sector saw another round of layoffs this week: cloud storage company Dropbox and customer-service software firm Front cut a combined 110 jobs in the city, according to reports on October 30, with both reductions listed in California EDD WARN filings.

Dropbox will eliminate 57 San Francisco positions effective November 18, part of a global reduction of about 200 jobs, roughly 9 percent of its worldwide workforce. Dropbox is headquartered at 50 Hawthorne Street in San Francisco.

Front laid off 53 employees on Tuesday, October 27. Founded in 2013 and headquartered at 300 Montgomery Street, the company sells customer-service and team-messaging software.

The cuts add to a year-long wave of Bay Area tech layoffs: WARN filings show tech companies have announced plans to cut nearly 14,500 Bay Area jobs in 2026. In August, Amazon announced 148 cuts at its Sunnyvale and San Francisco offices. The continued contraction of San Francisco's tech industry remains one of the most closely watched trends in the Bay Area job market.
