BOSTON, Mass. — Ahead of the November 3 state election, Boston's Election Department reminded voters that the city's ballot drop boxes close at 8 a.m. on October 31 and reopen by 2 p.m. on November 1. After they reopen, voters can deposit ballots in the boxes or deliver them to the Election Department in Room 241 of City Hall, the city announced.

Boston has 443,178 registered voters. The department has recruited and trained more than 2,000 poll workers to serve the city's 275 precincts, including more than 483 workers who can provide language assistance in Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Russian, Portuguese and other languages. Printed ballots are available in English and Spanish, and in designated precincts in bilingual English-Chinese and English-Vietnamese editions; voters may also request an interpreter.

Polls on November 3 are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters can check their registration on the Secretary of the Commonwealth's website. Boston began processing mailed and early ballots on October 26, and ballots received by October 30 have been opened and fed into tabulators.

Chinese-speaking voters who need assistance in Mandarin or Cantonese can ask poll workers at their voting location.
