Extreme Heat Hits Inland Empire This Weekend, Temecula Nears 100°F; County Fire Stations Open Oct. 10

The National Weather Service warns extreme heat will blanket the Inland Empire starting Friday and last into midweek. Daytime highs in the Temecula Valley will hit triple digits Friday through Sunday, after hovering in the 90s Thursday; overnight lows climb from the 60s Thursday into the 70s. Riverside will hover around 100°F daily from Friday, while the Coachella Valley pushes toward 110°F. Residents should stay hydrated, avoid midday outdoor activity, and check on seniors and pets.
Meanwhile, the Riverside County Fire Department will open more than a dozen fire stations to the public during Fire Prevention Week, Saturday October 10, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., including Temecula Fire Station 12 (28330 Mercedes St), Menifee, Lake Elsinore and Moreno Valley. The free, family-friendly event offers close-up looks at fire apparatus and Q&A with firefighters. This year's theme, "Plug in, power up, stay safe," focuses on proper charging of electronic devices to reduce home fire risks.
