A Golden Retriever Flies From Los Angeles to New York on a Dog-First Jet, and the Video Nears 5 Million Views in Four Days

New York content creator Ethan Gaskill recently moved from Los Angeles to New York with his golden retriever, Blondie, flying nonstop from Van Nuys Airport aboard BARK Air, a charter service designed for dogs. He filmed the whole trip and posted it on TikTok and Instagram, where it drew more than 2.7 million and 2.2 million views respectively in four days — nearly 5 million combined.
In the video, Gaskill says medium-to-large dogs have few options for traveling in the cabin with their owners, and that this was his and Blondie's first — and possibly only — time trying it. Passengers arrived an hour early so the dogs on the flight could meet and seating could be arranged around how they got along. In the air, dogs could walk the cabin on leashes; crew served "puppy cappuccinos," then "chompagne" made from bone broth, and before landing a spa cart came through with scalp massages, bandanas and hydrating treatment for noses and paws. Blondie was photographed wearing a captain's hat. The nonstop flight took about four hours.
BARK Air, launched by pet-products company BARK, bills itself as a dog-first charter service flying between New York and Los Angeles and between New York and London. Domestic one-way tickets have been priced at about $6,000, covering one human and one dog, with no more than 10 tickets sold per flight. In the comments, many viewers joked that their own dogs would now judge them for being poor, while others pointed to the price. Gaskill said the luxury, for the owner, was peace of mind: the dog stayed comfortable at his side the whole way.
