Governor Newsom to Announce Prop 1 Update on October 30 After Record Drops in Homelessness

California Governor Gavin Newsom will announce an update on Proposition 1 on Friday, October 30, at approximately 10 a.m. in Marin County, the Governor's Office said in an October 29 advisory, calling it a new milestone in the state's transformation of the behavioral health system and a key component of the Governor's strategies that have reduced homelessness for two years in a row.
California Health and Human Services Secretary Kim Johnson and Housing and Community Development Director Gustavo Velasquez will join Newsom for the announcement. The advisory described the background as record drops in homelessness.
The in-person press event is open to credentialed media only; media must RSVP no later than 7 a.m. on October 30, and location information will be provided upon RSVP confirmation. The event will be livestreamed on the Governor's Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram pages, and will be available to TV stations on the LiveU Matrix under “California Governor.”
