Rubio Hosts G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting Welcome Reception in Atlanta: Leaders to Meet in Doral in a Few Weeks, Poland Joins as Full Participant

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted and addressed the welcome reception of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting on the evening of October 30 at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, welcoming the foreign ministers in attendance. The U.S. Department of State released the official video of the reception.

Rubio said the ministerial had gotten off to a very productive start, and that the ministers' job is to create the platform on which their leaders will be able to meet in a few weeks in Doral, Florida, for a successful G20 summit. Together, he said, the group is mapping a vibrant, dynamic and bold economic future.

Rubio thanked the host city of Atlanta and recalled its history: less than 200 years ago, Atlanta was little more than a railroad junction whose original name was Terminus, literally the place where the railway ended. Within a few decades it became a thriving center of commerce, and after the Civil War left the city devastated, its people rebuilt it into one of the great commercial powerhouses of the United States.

Rubio said that in Georgia and across the American South, a vision of the economic future is taking shape: many of the fastest-growing cities in the United States are in the South, with new factories, new businesses and new jobs, both white-collar and blue-collar, and world-class universities full of students preparing to lead the future. That dynamism, he said, is the direct result of deliberate policy decisions by the leaders of those states to give businesses, entrepreneurs and citizens the opportunity to build, innovate and grow.

Since day one of his term, Rubio said, President Trump has prioritized realizing this vision: energy dominance for the United States, robust supply chains, removing the regulatory hurdles that hamper growth, and leading in the advancement of super intelligence (SI) and other critical emerging technologies. That future, he said, can also belong to America's economic partners, allies and friends, backed by secure, affordable energy and regulations that encourage innovation and growth.

As this year's G20 host, Rubio said, the United States has held gatherings across the country covering trade, fiscal and monetary policy, emerging technology and energy, and this week's ministerial maintains that sharp focus on economic interests. He also noted the inclusion of Poland as a full participant in this G20, saying President Trump believes Poland's economic success and growing global influence are exactly what the G20 needs.

Rubio closed by saying the economic challenges facing the countries represented are complex and interconnected, and must be addressed together: while interests may not always align, the countries should always seek to work together where they do. He said he looked forward to the following day's sessions and to the leaders' summit in Doral in a few weeks.
