Follow-Up: Musk's Midterm Spending Tops $442 Million: Another $76.8 Million Poured Into America PAC in October

DALLAS, Texas — Dallas, Dallas County, is one of the focal cities of the Texas Senate race. The Associated Press reported on October 23 that Elon Musk has spent more than $442 million on the 2026 midterm elections, including another $76.8 million poured into his America PAC over roughly one week in October, according to campaign finance filings.

The new spending comes on top of approximately $366 million Musk had already committed to this year's elections, including $276 million contributed to his super PAC and Republican organizations between July and September.

Texas has drawn a particularly large share of the money. In September, Musk gave $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC supporting Republican Senate candidates, in two installments, each transferred the following day to a Texas super PAC backing Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton. He also contributed $10 million to the Lone Star Liberty PAC, another organization supporting Paxton. Musk has also given $20 million to a House Republican super PAC, $10 million to the Republican Governors Association and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association.

Democratic candidate James Talarico responded on Wednesday on X, the social media platform Musk owns: "There is something deeply wrong with a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal U.S. Senator."
