San Diego Names Interim Leaders for Behavioral Health Services and Office of Homeless Solutions

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · California · GSM News

San Diego County, California, announced two leadership changes on October 27: Dijana Beck will serve as interim director of the county's Behavioral Health Services (BHS), and Brigit Cooper will serve as interim director of the Office of Homeless Solutions (OHS), while the county searches for permanent directors.

Beck, a 25-year county veteran, has led the Office of Homeless Solutions since May 2022. She moves to Behavioral Health Services to succeed interim director Jennifer Bransford-Koons, whose last day was October 29, and took over on October 30. Cooper, another longtime county Health and Human Services Agency official, steps in to lead the Office of Homeless Solutions in the interim.

Behavioral Health Services is the county's specialty behavioral health plan, overseeing mental health and substance-use treatment services countywide, and became a standalone department on July 1 of this year after previously sitting inside the Health and Human Services Agency. The Office of Homeless Solutions coordinates the county's homelessness services and housing support programs.

County spokesperson Tammy Glenn said the county will conduct a national search for a permanent Behavioral Health Services director and coordinate with stakeholders along the way. The county did not publish a timeline for the search; both interim directors will serve until permanent appointments are made.
