On the evening of September 22, opening day of Milan Fashion Week, the fifth edition of Vogue World took over the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan's landmark glass-roofed arcade. More than 360 models, singers, dancers and performers took part in a five-act show tracing Italian fashion craftsmanship from artisanal workshops to the age of artificial intelligence, livestreamed around the world.

The five acts — The Artisanal Revolution, The Industrial Revolution, Made in Italy, The Age of Intelligence and The Imagination Revolution — opened with Gigi Hadid in a hand-worked Valentino look. In the fourth act, four humanoid robots walked the arcade runway, becoming one of the night's most shared moments.

A 100-strong children's choir from the Accademia Teatro alla Scala performed, ballet star Roberto Bolle danced to music from La Traviata, and Alicia Keys closed the performances with a cover of Donna Summer's disco classic "I Feel Love." Cardi B walked the runway in Versace, Jennifer Lopez appeared in Dolce & Gabbana alongside Italian tennis player Lorenzo Musetti, and Machine Gun Kelly and J Balvin also took to the runway.

For the finale, eight houses — Armani Privé, Bottega Veneta, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Ferragamo, Gucci, Prada and Valentino — each created a one-of-a-kind "Memory Dress," while more than 6,000 paper origami pieces designed by Jony Ive's LoveFrom studio fell from the Galleria's dome. The evening raised $3 million (about €2.65 million) for the redevelopment of Milan's Quarto Oggiaro public library, exceeding its €2 million goal.

Created by Condé Nast under Anna Wintour and first held in New York in 2022, Vogue World has since traveled to London, Paris and Hollywood; Milan was its fifth stop, produced with Vogue Italia's Head of Editorial Content Francesca Ragazzi. Vogue has announced San Francisco as the next host city. (GSM, from Vogue's official release and published reports)
