Milei Returns From Paris as IDEA Business Forum Closes With Calls for Stability and Predictability

BUENOS AIRES - President Javier Milei landed back at Jorge Newbery Airport on the morning of October 3, ending his Paris trip leading Argentina Week. The state news agency Noticias Argentinas, via Diario Pregon de Jujuy, reported that Milei arrived at 10:15 a.m. local time together with the presidential delegation.
Running in parallel, Argentine big business held its traditional annual gathering - the 62nd IDEA colloquium - in the coastal city of Mar del Plata through October 3, drawing about a thousand owners and executives. Addressing the forum by video link from France, Milei asked business leaders for patience, saying growth processes are not instant, and promised more reforms if re-elected.
In its October 3 closing report, Spain's El Pais said executives publicly backed the government's economic course, deregulation and spending cuts, while corridor conversations were dominated by uncertainty over the 2027 election and by demands for stability and predictability. IDEA president Santiago Mignone closed the forum saying business does not want to go back, that staying the stabilisation course is not simple but is the only path, and that fiscal balance, world-compatible inflation and debt sustainability are the floor.
The mood reflects Argentina's current tension: official data put poverty at 32.3% in the first half of 2026 and economic activity contracted sharply in July, while the government hopes energy and mining interest from Paris will offset domestic weakness. With investment decisions waiting on electoral clarity, the coming months of politics become the key variable for economic expectations.
