Athens International Film Festival Opens Public Programme on 3 October

The Athens International Film Festival opened its public film programme in the Greek capital on 3 October 2026 with Club Kid as the opening film. The festival is an established part of Athens' autumn cultural calendar, with dedicated competition categories for international features, documentaries, Greek cinema and short films.
Affordable admission is one of this year's talking points: general tickets cost 8 euros per screening, and an 80-euro festival pass covers ten eligible screenings. Individual ticket sales began on 25 September through the official ticketing partner, with online sales closing fifteen minutes before each screening, after which remaining tickets are available only at the relevant cinema, subject to availability.
The programme gives independent productions and emerging directors a chance to meet audiences, and offers international visitors a way into Greece's filmmaking culture alongside global productions. Athens hopes events of this kind strengthen its position as a cultural destination.
The public programme runs until 10 October, with Wild Horse Nine as the closing film. Screening times and venues are listed through the festival's official channels.
