Bokor Mountain Trail Draws 2,000 Runners from 26 Countries as Cambodia Promotes Green Season Tourism

Sunday, October 4, 2026 · World News · GSM News

More than 2,000 tourists and runners from 26 countries took part in the Bokor Mountain Trail 2026, held on October 4 in Kampot province under the theme 'Run for Green Tourism on Bokor Mountain,' according to Agence Kampuchea Presse. Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Kampot Governor Mao Thonin presided over the event.

The race formed part of the 2026 Green Season tourism events for Cambodia's coastal region, running from October 2 to 4 and involving Kep, Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong provinces. The Ministry of Tourism and the Kampot provincial administration organised the programme to promote green and sports tourism and improve livelihoods in local communities.

The event also featured cooking competitions and exhibitions of local products. Huot Hak highlighted Kampot's tourism potential and credited Cambodia's peace and stability for development across sectors, saying coastal provinces would continue to be promoted to international visitors.

Cambodia's peak travel season falls in the dry months, while the rainy 'green season' is traditionally quiet. The government has been filling the low-season calendar with races, festivals and beach events. For Chinese-run hotels, restaurants and travel agencies along the coast, internationally attended events like the Bokor run are a rare source of off-season business.
