Michelin Guide Netherlands 2026 Unveiled in Maastricht: De Librije Keeps the Country's Only Three Stars

The Michelin Guide Netherlands 2026 was presented on Monday, 5 October 2026 at the MECC convention centre in Maastricht, during the BBB Maastricht trade fair. De Librije in Zwolle retained its three stars and remains the only three-star restaurant in the Netherlands. The new guide lists 499 selected restaurants, 119 of them with stars — the same total as the previous edition — alongside 77 Bib Gourmand addresses.
De Librije has held three stars since 2004. After founder and chef Jonnie Boer died last year, the restaurant has been run by his wife Thérèse Boer together with head chef Nelson Tanate and the family. Michelin said Tanate had given the restaurant a new identity while Jonnie Boer's character remained clearly present.
Two restaurants entered the guide directly with two stars: Azurite in Delft, where chef Mario Ridder combines French technique with Dutch produce and a strong focus on wine; and SUIS in Schin op Geul, opened by chef Ralf Berendsen only in May this year. The Netherlands now counts 20 two-star restaurants.
Seven restaurants received a first star: Ambrozijn in Valkenburg, Bij Sidney in Loenen aan de Vecht, De Cuijt in Mierlo, Le Epifaan in Veeningen, Nassau in Groningen, Rozewied in Kortgene and Wild Atelier in Hoog Soeren. There are 98 one-star restaurants nationwide.
Special awards were also presented: the Young Chef Award went to Noëmie Haentjens and Ferdy van Rijswijk of Rozewied; the Service Award to the team of Château Neercanne in Maastricht; the Sommelier Award to Matthijs Vranken and Nouri Haj Romdhane of Brut172 in Reijmerstok; and Opening of the Year to Luwte in Groningen.
