Trump to Call Putin on Russia Plague Case; US Embassy Urges Americans to Leave Russia

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin "very soon" about the death of a plague lab technician in Siberia, adding the U.S. government may share more information Wednesday.
Daria Shipilova, 28, died Friday in a hospital outside Irkutsk of "pneumonia of unknown etiology." She reportedly broke a test tube containing a deadly pathogen days earlier and may have contracted pneumonic plague, which can spread person-to-person through respiration.
The U.S. Embassy in Moscow said Tuesday it was aware of press reports of suspected pneumonic plague and associated quarantines in the Irkutsk region, adding "U.S. citizens currently in Russia should depart immediately" and noting limited U.S. ability to assist citizens in Russia, especially outside Moscow.
