Blue Angels Fly Survey Flights Over San Francisco This Afternoon Ahead of Weekend Air Show

San Francisco is a city in San Francisco County, California (a consolidated city-county). The U.S. Navy Blue Angels were scheduled to conduct survey and practice flights over San Francisco's northern waterfront on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 8 — appearing intermittently between about 1 and 5 p.m. — ahead of the Fleet Week air show, according to the organizers and FunCheap SF's schedule guide. The flights let the team map its routine over the bay before the formal performances.
The air show itself runs Friday through Sunday, Oct. 9-11, from noon to 4 p.m. daily over San Francisco Bay between the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, with Marina Green as the festival center. Beyond the Blue Angels, the lineup includes a United Airlines 777 demonstration — the only fully choreographed airliner performance at any U.S. air show — the Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team, the Marine Corps F-35B Demo Team, the Patriots Jet Team and Coast Guard aircraft.
Viewing is free from public areas including Marina Green, Crissy Field, Aquatic Park and Fort Mason. Parking near the waterfront is effectively impossible on show days; the SFMTA recommended Muni and allowing extra time for post-show crowds.
