China's National Water Network Investment Needs to Top ¥6 Trillion in 15th Five-Year Plan; ¥795bn Spent in First Three Quarters

Monday, October 12, 2026 · World News · GSM News

China's national water network construction will require more than ¥6 trillion (about $840 billion) in investment during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030), CCTV News reported on October 12. In the first three quarters of this year, China advanced 41,400 water conservancy projects, started 28 major national water-network projects including the Guxian hub on the Yellow River, and completed ¥795 billion in water-sector investment, with the full-year figure expected to approach ¥1 trillion. The national water network — spanning flood control, water allocation, supply security and ecological restoration — has become a major lever for stabilising investment and domestic demand, with annual spending during the next plan period implied to average around ¥1.2 trillion.
