Follow-Up: Selma Blair Pleads Not Guilty to Assault Charges; Organisers Say She Will Still Appear at 90s Con

GSM reported on October 12 that Blair had been detained at JFK after an alleged assault on flight attendants. Entertainment Weekly reported on October 14 that actress Selma Blair remains on the guest list for this weekend's 90s Con fan convention, held from October 16 to 18 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, despite her arrest after an alleged incident on a flight. The organiser, That's4Entertainment, confirmed in an October 12 social media post that Blair will be joining the convention as planned, and autograph and photo opportunities with her remain on sale for all three days of the event; local station WFSB reported it is not yet clear whether she will actually attend.
The incident took place at about 11 p.m. on Sunday, October 11. After Delta Air Lines flight 938 from Los Angeles landed at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, Port Authority police responded to a call about a physically abusive passenger. The Port Authority confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the suspect was identified as Blair, 54, who was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation. Two flight attendants reported injuries, and one was taken to a hospital for further evaluation. The FBI is investigating the incident. Delta told Entertainment Weekly it has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behaviour and that the safety of its customers and crew comes first.
Blair was arraigned on Monday, October 12, in Queens Criminal Court. Court records viewed by Entertainment Weekly show she faces two counts of assault in the second degree, involving a Port Authority police officer and a nurse. She pleaded not guilty and was released after the judge set bail at $20,000 cash, a $60,000 bond, or a $60,000 partially secured bond. Her next court appearance is set for January 19, 2027; if convicted, she could face two to seven years in prison. Blair's representative said she experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct; her lawyers told the court she had not taken her medication for multiple sclerosis and had fallen and hit her head on board. Blair disclosed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2018. She rose to fame in Cruel Intentions (1999) and Legally Blonde (2001). In 2016 she was removed from a flight on a stretcher after mixing medication with alcohol.
