Volvo Recalls 9,930 EX30 SUVs: Head Restraint Cushion May Detach in a Crash, Dealers to Reinforce Free

In an acknowledgment letter dated October 16, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed that Volvo Car USA, LLC is recalling certain 2025-2026 EX30 and 2026 EX30CC electric vehicles, 9,930 units in total, because the front head restraint cushion may detach during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. The recall campaign number is 26V671, and the component involved is the front seat head restraint assembly.
Volvo submitted its report to NHTSA on October 7, and the vehicle identification numbers (VINs) involved became searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 9, 2026. Owners can check whether their vehicle is included by entering the 17-character VIN on the NHTSA recalls lookup page.
As a remedy, dealers will apply an adhesive to reinforce the head cushion attachment, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on November 30, 2026. Owners may contact Volvo Car's customer service at 1-800-458-1552; Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10396. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-888-275-9171) or go to nhtsa.gov.
