PG&E Moves Up Power Restoration for East Bay and North Bay Customers in the San Francisco Bay Area

Pacific Gas and Electric said on October 16 that some East Bay customers affected by its wildfire-prevention Public Safety Power Shutoff could regain electricity around 4 p.m. Friday, with North Bay service potentially returning around 7 p.m., earlier than its previous estimate of Saturday afternoon.
PG&E described the event as its largest PSPS since 2020, affecting nearly 80,000 customers statewide, including about 6,200 in the East Bay across parts of Contra Costa, Alameda, Sonoma and Napa counties. As of 5 p.m. Friday, Bay Area outages totaled 5,857, including 2,130 in Alameda County, 2,592 in Napa, 1,092 in Sonoma and 43 in Contra Costa, while Solano County outages had been restored, KPIX reported via KION.
The utility said it cut power to reduce the risk that electrical equipment could spark a wildfire amid hot, dry and windy conditions. The National Weather Service's red flag warning expired earlier Friday. PG&E said restoration times are estimates, as crews must inspect lines and equipment before re-energizing them.
