Oregon QB Dante Moore Named Among 18 Finalists for the Campbell Trophy: Concussion to Keep Him Out a Third Straight Game, at Illinois on Saturday

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · States · GSM News

The University of Oregon announced Wednesday that quarterback Dante Moore has been named one of 18 finalists for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy. Presented by the National Football Foundation (NFF), the award is college football's premier scholar-athlete honor; each finalist receives an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship, and the winner, to be announced December 8 at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas, will have the award increased to $25,000.

Moore is one of only 6 quarterbacks among the 18 finalists, one of 3 Big Ten players, and the sixth NFF National Scholar-Athlete in Oregon history, following Dylan Gabriel (2024), Bo Nix (2023) and Justin Herbert (2019), among others. But injury shadows the honor: Moore suffered a concussion in a September 26 road win over USC, has missed the past two games, and will remain out for Saturday's game at Illinois, his third straight absence.

Before the injury, Moore had completed 69 of 99 passes this season for 926 yards, 9 touchdowns and no interceptions. Head coach Dan Lanning will choose between Dylan Raiola and Brock Thomas as Saturday's starting quarterback.
