BBC Investigation: Sudan's RSF Systematically Attacked El Fasher Hospitals; 55 Medics Killed in Possible War Crimes

LONDON — The BBC published an investigative report on October 22 documenting at least 43 attacks on hospitals and medical facilities in El Fasher, the capital of Sudan's North Darfur, between May 2024 and October 2025, killing 55 health workers, wounding 120 and leaving 10 kidnapped or forcibly disappeared. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said he was "deeply disturbed," calling repeated attacks on civilian infrastructure grave violations of international humanitarian law that may amount to war crimes.
The World Health Organization called El Fasher one of the "clearest and most severe examples" of the conflict's toll on Sudan's health system. The Rapid Support Forces' health minister Nugud dismissed the investigation as "propaganda." The BBC said its findings were cross-verified against satellite imagery, witness testimony and medical records.
