Alabama DB Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. Suspended for Rules Violation, Out Against Texas A&M

On October 24, Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. was suspended for a violation of team rules and ruled out of that day's home game in Tuscaloosa against Texas A&M. A team spokesman confirmed the decision to The Tuscaloosa News, and Kirkpatrick appeared as "out" on the SEC's final availability report released October 24. The game kicked off at 2:30 p.m. at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium and was televised by ABC.
The junior defensive back has played in seven games this season, recording five tackles, one pass breakup and one forced fumble. Kirkpatrick was indefinitely suspended last year over a driving-related charge before returning to the team. Alabama had 10 players listed as out for the game, and the team was looking to stop a slide after consecutive losses to Georgia and Tennessee.
The suspension adds another variable to an already thin defense. Head coach Kalen DeBoer did not publicly disclose the reason for or length of the suspension before the game, and the team gave no timetable for Kirkpatrick's return.
