Follow-Up: Alabama Dismisses Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. From Football Program, DeBoer Cites Team Standards

TUSCALOOSA, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama — University of Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer announced on October 27 that defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. "will no longer be a part of our program," formally dismissing him from the Crimson Tide. DeBoer said Kirkpatrick "did not live up to the standards and expectations" of the program.
GSM previously reported that Kirkpatrick was arrested last Friday on two misdemeanor charges of harassing communications and doxing involving a campus police officer, was suspended from the team and missed the game against Texas A&M, and was arraigned on Monday in Tuscaloosa County District Court, with a court date set for November 18. The dismissal completes the school's disciplinary process within a week; the criminal case now proceeds through the courts.
Kirkpatrick is the son of former NFL cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick. The charges remain pending and are subject to the court's findings.
