Falcons Host the 49ers in Atlanta on October 25: The Unbeaten Visitors Test a Home Team Still Seeking Its First Home Win
At 1 p.m. Eastern on October 25, the Atlanta Falcons hosted the San Francisco 49ers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, in a Week 7 NFL matchup televised by FOX. The Falcons had yet to win at home this season and needed to stop the slide in front of their fans; the 49ers arrived unbeaten, leading the NFC West, with a defense playing at an elite level under coordinator Raheem Morris. There was a storyline off the field as well: Morris, a former Falcons head coach, returned to Atlanta for the first time as an opponent since leaving the team. On the injury front, the Falcons were without running back Brian Robinson and several other starters, while the 49ers were missing wide receiver Mike Evans and defensive end Nick Bosa. Mercedes-Benz Stadium sits in downtown Atlanta, and traffic and crowds around the stadium were expected to be heavy on game day, so fans were advised to arrive early.
