Follow-Up: Garth Brooks Cancels the November 7 Kansas City Matinee, Ticketholders to Be Refunded Automatically

KANSAS CITY, Jackson County, Missouri — Country star Garth Brooks's team announced on October 26 that the matinee (third) show scheduled for November 7 at the T-Mobile Center is officially canceled, and ticketholders will be refunded automatically to their original payment method. The evening shows on November 6 and November 7 will go ahead as planned.

GSM previously reported that when the matinee went on sale on October 23, the ticket queue topped 90,000 — most of it bots — prompting seller AXS and the venue to shut down sales while the team said it would "evaluate next steps," leaving the show's fate undecided. Brooks himself apologized to fans on October 23, writing that "the bot situation is out of hand." This announcement is the final resolution of the episode.

Bot buying has repeatedly disrupted sales for major concerts, with hot shows swept by bots at on-sale and resold at markups. Going from a sales halt to canceling the show outright is an unusually firm response by an artist's team.
