College Football Week 9: Ohio State Visits USC and No. 1 Miami Faces Belichick's North Carolina in Three Ranked Matchups

Saturday, October 31, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

Week 9 of the 2026 college football season wraps up October with a full Halloween slate on Saturday, October 31, highlighted by three matchups between ranked teams and several games carrying conference championship and College Football Playoff stakes.

The headline game is in Los Angeles, where No. 2 Ohio State makes the cross-country trip to face No. 25 USC at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin is sidelined with an injury. For USC, a loss could effectively knock the Trojans out of playoff contention and drive embattled coach Lincoln Riley into further turmoil. The game is at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The other ranked matchups: No. 14 Texas Tech hosts No. 21 Arizona at noon ET, looking to rebound from its blowout Week 8 loss at Cincinnati in what could serve as an elimination game for the Big 12 championship; and No. 3 Georgia faces No. 20 Florida at 3:30 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, a neutral site this year while Jacksonville's EverBank Stadium, the rivalry's traditional home, undergoes a major multi-year renovation.

No. 1 Miami aims to keep its stranglehold on the top spot in the US LBM Coaches Poll when it goes on the road to take on North Carolina and coach Bill Belichick at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Elsewhere, No. 6 Notre Dame meets Navy at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough at noon on ABC, No. 5 Utah tries to avoid an upset at Cincinnati, No. 18 Northwestern visits Oregon, and No. 24 Iowa hosts Wisconsin.
