WASHINGTON: Kirill Kaprizov scored an empty-net goal for his 500th NHL point as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Washington Capitals 5-1 at Capital One Arena on Sunday night, November 1.
Kaprizov reached the milestone at 19:02 of the third period to make it 4-1. His 500 points consist of 245 goals and 255 assists, and he became the second player in Wild history to reach the mark, joining Mikko Koivu (709). Quinn Hughes opened the scoring at 3:42 of the first period, skating across to the high slot and snapping a shot through Logan Thompson's pads. Michael McCarron made it 2-0 at 5:27, converting from the right hash marks after Bobby Brink's pass from behind the goal line deflected to him.
Justin Sourdif cut the deficit to 2-1 at 19:54 of the second period, deflecting Cole Hutson's point shot. Washington nearly tied it early in the third when Hutson's shot deflected off Ovechkin's skate across the goal line but Dylan Strome could not tip it in at the right post.
