From Prague to Buenos Aires: Dvořák's Eighth Symphony on Jan. 23 and 24
The San Diego Symphony's Masterworks program From Prague to Buenos Aires comes to the Jacobs Music Center in San Diego, San Diego County, California, on Jan. 23, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. Uzbek conductor Aziz Shokhakimov leads the orchestra, with Macedonian pianist Simon Trpčeski as soloist and Dvořák's Symphony No. 8 as the finale.
The program crosses the Atlantic: Smetana's overture to The Bartered Bride opens, followed by two works for piano and orchestra, Ginastera's Concierto argentino and Albéniz's Rapsodia española, before returning to Bohemia. Dvořák's Eighth, written in 1889, is his most warmly Czech and melody-rich symphony.

Founded in 1910, the San Diego Symphony is California's oldest orchestra, with 82 full-time musicians; its music and artistic director is Rafael Payare.
