Sleepless in Seattle Screens at The Rady Shell on Dec. 11 With Live Symphony Score
The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego, San Diego County, California, screens the 1993 romantic comedy Sleepless in Seattle in full on Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m., with the San Diego Symphony performing Marc Shaiman's score live under conductor Bruce Kiesling, for one performance only, billed as the North American premiere of this production.
Directed by Nora Ephron and starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, Sleepless in Seattle follows a widowed architect whose late-night radio confession draws letters from listeners across the country; it remains one of the defining romantic comedies of the 1990s. Its soundtrack leans on American songbook standards woven through Shaiman's original score.
The Rady Shell, at 222 Marina Park Way, San Diego, CA 92101, is the orchestra's bayside outdoor home. Tickets are sold through the orchestra's official channels.
The screening anchors the orchestra's holiday run at the Shell, followed the next night by Home Alone 2 in concert and by the Noel Noel holiday concerts on Dec. 18 to 20.
