加利福尼亚州圣迭戈县圣迭戈市的雅各布斯音乐中心（Jacobs Music Center）11月20日晚7时30分与22日下午2时上演圣迭戈交响乐团大师系列音乐会《命运之声》（Voices of Destiny）：音乐与艺术总监拉斐尔·帕亚雷（Rafael Payare）执棒，钢琴家伊农·巴纳坦（Inon Barnatan）独奏李斯特《第一钢琴协奏曲》，下半场是马勒《第六交响曲》。
马勒《第六交响曲》作于1903至1904年，因其终乐章的三记锤击与无可回避的悲剧色彩被冠以「悲剧」的别名，是马勒九首交响曲中对乐团规模与体力要求最高的一首。李斯特《第一钢琴协奏曲》则以开篇八度音阶的宣告式主题著称，独奏与乐团全程对话。这也是帕亚雷本乐季在圣迭戈亲自执棒的第二档大师系列节目。

Payare Conducts Mahler's Sixth on Nov. 20 and 22: Barnatan Plays Liszt's First Piano Concerto
The San Diego Symphony's Masterworks program Voices of Destiny comes to the Jacobs Music Center in San Diego, San Diego County, California, on Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. Music and Artistic Director Rafael Payare conducts, with pianist Inon Barnatan as soloist in Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 and Mahler's Symphony No. 6 on the second half.
Written in 1903-04, Mahler's Sixth, nicknamed "Tragic" for the three hammer blows of its finale and its inescapable darkness, makes the largest demands of any Mahler symphony on an orchestra's scale and stamina. Liszt's First Piano Concerto, by contrast, opens with a declamatory octave theme and keeps soloist and orchestra in constant dialogue. It is the second Masterworks program Payare conducts in San Diego this season.
A post-concert talk with Payare, President and CEO Martha Gilmer and Barnatan follows the Sunday matinee on Nov. 22. The venue is the Jacobs Music Center, 1245 Seventh Ave, San Diego, CA 92101. Tickets are sold through the orchestra's official channels.
Founded in 1910, the San Diego Symphony is California's oldest orchestra, with 82 full-time musicians; Payare's contract has been extended through the 2028-29 season.
