Election Day, November 3: Harris County Voters Can Use Any of 620 Vote Centers, With Federal Monitors on Site

Midterm Election Day in Houston, Harris County, Texas, is Tuesday, November 3, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; voters already in line at closing time may still cast a ballot.
Texas voters will choose a governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and a U.S. senator on November 3. Houston's ballot also carries a combined referendum to decriminalise small amounts of marijuana and end no-knock warrants for the Houston Police Department, while Cypress-Fairbanks ISD voters decide a $1.63 billion bond package. Harris County will elect a new county judge — incumbent Lina Hidalgo is not seeking another term — and two county commissioners.
Harris County runs a countywide vote-center system: on Election Day voters may use any of the county's 620 vote centers, regardless of address. A total of 1,081,010 Harris County voters had already voted early, about 39.37% of the county's roughly 2.7 million registered voters.
Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth confirmed last week that the U.S. Department of Justice will send federal election monitors to Harris County on Election Day to ensure compliance with federal voting rights laws. Voters can report problems or ask questions on the county election hotline at 713-755-6965, or call the Election Protection hotline at 888-API-VOTE for assistance in Asian languages including Mandarin and Cantonese. A photo ID is required to vote.
