Work Begins on $1.9 Million Park Boulevard Safety Project in West Sacramento

Work has begun on a $1.9 million safety project on Park Boulevard in West Sacramento, Yolo County, California, covering 1.1 miles between Jefferson Boulevard and Stone Boulevard; crews broke ground last month.
According to the West Sacramento News-Ledger, the Park Boulevard Resurfacing and Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project includes repaving, restriping of bike lanes, and the addition of colored pavement and new signage to improve crossing visibility. The work is being done in-house by the city's new public works road crew, Mayor Martha Guerrero said; repairs will be completed in-house this fall, allowing surface treatment, striping and colored pavement work to begin in spring 2027. Mayor Pro Tem and Councilmember Verna Sulpizio Hull said the project creates safer crossings for pedestrians and a more comfortable connection for cyclists.
The project is funded by Measure O, a 1-cent sales tax approved by voters in November 2024 that provides roughly $20 million a year for general city services including road repairs, park and trail maintenance, and expanded police and fire protection. Separately, the city's Capital Projects Department recently secured $955,000 through the Sacramento Area Council of Governments' System Preservation Program for pavement preservation on a stretch of Harbor Boulevard, a different project from Park Boulevard.
